COLLOCATED EVENTS: "LIVE UPRIGHTLY!"

 

The exhibilition devoted to manuscripts and documents of the first rector of the University of Łódź, prof. Tadeusz Kotarbiński, will be available to the public in the building of the Library of the University of Łódź between 11th and 16th September 2023. 

We would like to invite you to the exhibition "Live uprightly! Professor Tadeusz Kotarbiński in the light of manuscripts and documents from the archives of the Library and the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Łódź" being a part of the 12th Polish Congress of Philosophy.

At the exhibition, you can see privite and official documents connected with the first rector of the Univrsity of Łódź, professor Tadeusz Kotarbiński: archives from the initial years of the University of Łódź, correspondence pertaining to academic activities, private letters, and photographs. The exhibits come from the archives of the Section of Manuscripts of the Łódź University Library and from the archive of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Łódź.

The title of the exhibition refers to the title of one of prof. Tadeusz Kotarbiński's books "To live uprightly" ("Żyć zacnie"). Calling this word, which nowadays may sound a bit old-fashioned, aims to highlight the principal idea and ethical rules which guided Tadeusz Kotarbiński in his private and professional life. The main goal of the exhibition is showing professor Kotarbiński not only as a resecher and rector, but above all, as a person who was highly sensitive, empathetic, and upright, that is, worthy of respect and trust. The exhibited documents will  offer visitors an opportunity to meet professor Tadeusz Kotarbiński in a space built from his noble thoughts and beautiful words.

The exhibition will be held at the ground floor of the new building of the Łódź University Library.
